WhatsApp's upcoming feature could solve a major 'problem' for iPhone user

One of the biggest concerns while changing phones is WhatsApp chats. iPhone users rely on iCloud to back up WhatsApp chats

Which can later be restored on the new iPhone. The transfer process may not bother you

Storing chats on iCloud certainly does. If a feature spotted in the beta version is to be believed, WhatsApp may eliminate the need for it.

According to a report by WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp recently rolled out a new chat transfer feature for beta testers on Android.

According to a report by WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp recently rolled out a new chat transfer feature for beta testers on Android.

The same feature has also been seen in the beta version of iOS. The report also has a screenshot where a new option "Transfer Chats to iPhone" can be seen.

Users need to download WhatsApp on their new phone, register with the same phone number, and use the old device to scan the QR code shown on the new phone to transfer their chat history

Apple, by default, only provides 5GB of storage on iCloud. WhatsApp users often have a number of media files that get lost when they switch phones if they haven't pumped in extra storage on iCloud

WhatsApp's upcoming feature may solve that problem as it will end reliance on iCloud for chat transfers

Currently this feature is in beta testing and it is not clear when WhatsApp will roll out this feature publicly.

A similar option will be offered on Android phones as well, where users have to rely on Google Drive to take up storage. Google offers 15GB of free storage
